About Attain2Gain

Attain2Gain Ltd. is the brainchild of Richard Nicholas. He is currently the Managing Director and Course Executive Director. The company was formed to bring top quality Health & Safety, First Aid and Food Hygiene/ food Safety training to the workplace, recognising industries needs for flexibility, relevance and value for money.
Richard started as a military first aider in 1987 when he joined the RAF Regiment Reserve 3 months after qualifying he used his CPR skills for real when he was involved in his first resuscitation. Soon after he gained the HSE First Aider at Work qualification, which sparked a life-long interest in the subject. The RAF fueled his passion for the outdoors and he developed interests in climbing, mountaineering, diving, pot holing, canoeing, sailing and winter mountaineering. He was lucky enough to have included an expedition to Mont Blanc to his list of summits. He has also worked with RAF Search and Rescue.
While serving in the RAF Reserve, he has also worked in a range of industries including, health, food processing, electrical and construction.
In 1998 he became a qualified Adult Education teacher at the College of West Anglia where is still an Associate Lecturer. After 10 years in the Regiment Reserve (becoming an instructor) he decided to develop his medical knowledge and transferred to the RAF Medical Reserve. Joining a specialist Aeromedical Evacuation unit meant he soon saw action. As well as carrying out many peacetime Aeromeds all over the world (currently 22% of the worlds countries) he saw service supporting OP TELIC (Iraq) and was based in Kandahar on OP HERRICK (Afghanistan) He has been involved in the repatriation of countless wounded service personnel back to the UK. He has also carried out Aeromeds on behalf of the Home Office and private companies.
His qualifications include Manual Handling, Food Safety (advanced CIEH), Intermediate Management and Leadership (ILM), Major Incident Medical Management (MIMMs). Richard is an Associate of the Institute for Learning (IfL).
He has taught First Aid, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety to an age range of 6 to 80, taught internationally, taught special needs, excluded pupil programmes, pre-uniformed services, sports courses, outdoor instructors, young lifesavers, electricians, the construction industry, care homes, door supervisors, the food industry, doctors, nurses, childminders and school staff.
In his spare time, Richard is a community first responder in Lincolnshire. He is a Governor of his local Primary School and is a member of SARDA CanTech, which is a Search & Rescue Dog Association. CanTech is a voluntary group providing lowland search and rescue capability to find vulnerable missing persons. Richard is currently training his Portuguese Water dog, Elsa, for search and rescue duties.
